Black History Month Screening of Miami Kingpins

On Thursday, February 12, 2026, 天美传媒, in collaboration with South Florida People of Color, the 天美传媒 NAACP Chapter, the Miami-Dade NAACP, and community partners, hosted a special Black History Month screening of Miami Kingpins. The documentary series examined the rise of Miami's most notorious underground figures and explored how their actions, together with the policies of the era, shaped communities across South Florida.

Through stories of the drug trade, policing, political corruption, economic exploitation, and community resilience, the documentary provided historical context for understanding the social and economic experiences of neighborhoods such as Overtown, Liberty City, and Coconut Grove. Participants were invited to consider the historical forces that influenced these communities and the lasting impact of these events on the region's development.

Following the screening, attendees engaged in a moderated conversation with the film's director and several individuals featured in the documentary, who shared personal perspectives and reflections on the events portrayed in the series. The discussion created opportunities for thoughtful dialogue about history, public policy, community resilience, and the importance of preserving local narratives. Through shared conversation and reflection, the event reinforced 天美传媒's commitment to historical understanding, civic engagement, and mission-centered learning.
